Freestyle Drill Performance
Went down to Amoy Quee Camp today to support Samuel Lee, our only cadet who has completed the Freestyle Drill Course. Today was his graduation parade, and there was also a performance by the cadets.
made my way by MRT to Amoy Quee Camp. I arrived at around 8.00. i was 1 hour early. So i waited for SGT Major warren for approximately 1 hour, before he came along in his father's light green Hyundai matrix. I thought he was going to walk with me down the 5 click route, however his dad offered to drive us through, so i was given a lift in Sgt Major Warren's Father's Green Hyundai Matrix.
We had to exchange our EZ-Link cards for a guest pass. Went down to the parade Square and we got the shock of our lives. there was a LOT of people. Yea, so many dat i can see so many outstanding red chairs. Wei xuan came along and we set down. We though we were very early and will have to watch the rehearsal first. However, only when the whole event ended, we found out it wasn't a rehearsal.
Here is the brief summary of the parade.
6 contingents formed up. A short Graduation Ceremony ensued. A US MSG made an amusing graduation speech. Contingent CLTs collected the Certificates. The performance was carried out. The first Contingent was called War Eagles 1, 2nd was Flying Tigers 1, 3rd was Snap 1, and carried on with War Eagles 2 and so on....
Samuel was in Flying Tigers 1. it was a very good performance, we all enjoyed it pretty much. A friend of mine whom i met at Camp Feast was also performing and was in Flying Tigers 2. Their performances was pretty similar yet different.
After the performance ended, the performers went to the canteen for their refreshments while Sgt major Warren, Wei Xuan and I went to look for Samuel in the canteen. After walking a whole round about, we saw him enjoying a fried chicken wing....
We congratulated Samuel and that's about what happened.
When we were about to leave, we dropped by the logistics department as Wei Xuan wanted to change his beret, cos he burnt 2 holes in it thanks to his iron. We later found out that the logistics department was empty so we decided to go back to the Canteen to request for assistance. So, Wei Xuan went up to a captain, and asked for help, Sgt major, Samuel and i turned away and prepared for the worst...
Luckily, he did not receive a dressing-down but was referred to a CLT and was told that the logistics is closed today and to return on Monday...
We left the camp. On our way out, the familiar Hyundai Matrix drove by. Sgt major went off in the car, Samuel and Wei Xuan accepted a lift down to the bus stop while i carried on with my walk. On my way out i met with my friend i talked about earlier on. We talked about the course before parting. And i met Samuel and Wei Xuan, at the bus stop. lol.
Took a bus down to Yio Chu Kang, had lunch at Macs at J8 before returning home. glad to meet my friend at glad to witness the ceremony.
I still remember calling the Unit last night for people to go down to support Samuel, in the end only Sgt major, Wei Xuan and i was there, what a disappointment....
